In this class we practice standing poses using the wall. The wall is an excellent prop to help with alignment and stability. Other than the wall we use only the belt and bricks. We go through Trikonasana, Virabhadrasana II, Parsvakonasana and Ardha Chandrasana with our back body against the wall and then with the front body against the wall.

This is a shorter format class with a focus on twisting poses and is 48 mins long. We practice revolved forward hero pose, revolved triangle pose, revolved hand to big toe pose and revolved half moon pose, continuing on with a supported variation of side shoulder stand. This is a fun challenging class.

Specifically beneficial for WOMENS HEALTH. Addressing the feeling of congestion, heaviness, fullness and / or bloating in the pelvic abdominal organs we practice poses that broaden, create space and bring tone that area (of course it's a great sequence for men as well). This may be of benefit during the various stages of our monthly cycle eg ovulation, pre-menstrual and the first few days of the menstrual cycle depending upon when you experience these symptoms.

Forward bends using minimal props. We begin with reclined big toe pose, move onto a couple of standing forward bends and then onto the seated forward bends. We move slowly through the practice taking time to make adjustments. We only use 1 or 2 belts and a blanket (& a bolster at the very end for Viparita Karani, which can be done without a bolster if you are without).

A balancing class using minimal props! We make use of a rolled up sticky mat under the heels in order to enhance our proprioceiption in the ankles whilst strenghtening the muscles of the feet and lower legs when practicing some of the standing balancing poses. We move onto Vasisthasana (the one arm balance) and then balance on our sitting bones for a couple of postures.

A restorative class in which we practice 7 poses (including Savasana) all supported by props. I show some different ways of setting up props for some of these poses and explain why we might use the props in these ways. This is a lovely session to settle the nervous system and quieten the mind.

A backbends class. We spend time preparing the body with shoulder and thoracic spine opening poses including lying back through the chair in Dwi Pada Viparita Dandasana. We explore going further over the chair in order to put the head on the floor and place the hands in a headstand position. We then move onto Urdhva Dhanurasana and unsupported Dwi Pada Viparita Dandasana with a timing of up to 90 seconds finishing with Ardha Halasana.

A 45 minute inversions class. It is possible to do this class with only 1 brick and 1 belt (I demonstrate how to do supported bridge pose instead of shoulder stand). Those with enough support can do shoulder stand along with me. This class (PART 2) can be practiced on its own but can also be a continuation of PART 1 (standing poses) if you wish for a longer class.

A 30 minute standing pose sequence with the use of only 1 brick. If you want a longer class continue on with PART 2 (inversions - 45 mins). Part 1 does not include Savasana so if you are only practicing this class you will need to allow an extra few minutes at the end, however if you are continuing on with Part 2 then your Savasana is included.

Minimal prop use - With the use of only 1 belt we practice some reclined poses, standing poses and forward bends finishing up with legs up the wall and Savasana. This class is good for lengthening the hamstrings and adductors (amongst other things 😉)

A slow paced class with a focus on Pranayama, starting in Supta Baddha Konasana moving onto Viparita Karani to prepare the body-mind for the pranayama practices. We practice Viloma I (interupted inhalations) and Bhramari (bumble bee breath) in a reclined position. Upon sitting we progress to Ujjayi VIII (victorious breath) and Bahya Kumbhaka (holding the breath out) as well as Bhramari with Sanmukhi Mudra (seven gate seal).

Twists and backbends. We bring awareness to the lift of ALL the areas of the chest - bottom breast region, armpit chest, sternum and collar bones - in Urdhva Mukha Svanasana (upward facing dog pose) and Ustrasana (camel pose). We infuse Virabhadrasana I (warrior pose 1) and Ustrasana (camel pose) with a twist as well as practicing various twisting poses throughout the class.

We begin the class with some standing forward bends and move onto some arm balances including Bhujapidasana (shoulder pressing pose), Dwi Hasta Bhujasana (two hands and arm pose), Tittibhasana (firefly pose) , Eka Pada Bhujasana (elephant trunk pose), and Ashtavakrasana (eight angle pose). This is a great class to practice Abhyasa and Vairagya (practice and detachment) - "touch and go" - ie touch on the pose and move on.

A progression to Urdhva Dhanurasana (upward bow pose). We practice some poses to prepare and open the shoulders along with poses to open the front thighs and hip flexors in preparation for this challenging back bend. Even if you don't make it all the way into the full and final pose it's a fun journey along the way. We also include a short headstand, shoulder stand and plough pose in this class.

A slow paced class involving supported poses such a supported dog pose, supported headstand preparation, supported backbend through a chair, along with a variation of shoulderstand. I consider this a restorative session even though there may be effort required to hold some of the poses.

A sequence of inversions and forward bends. We progress from downward facing dog pose to forearm balance, then onto handstand followed by a three minute headstand. After plough pose and a three minute shoulderstand we proceed with some forward bends to soothe and settle the nervous system. A very refreshing class.

Shoulder opening sequence including Gomukhasana and Garudasana arms, Adho Much Svanasana, Pincha Mayurasana prep, Kapotasana prep and shoulder stand.

A twisting class with the majority of the focus on seated twists. We do however practice standing Marichyasana III with a chair and the wall, along with Parivrtta Uttanasana (revolved intense stretch pose). The seated twists include Parsva Virasana, Bharadvajasana I, Marichyasana III, Ardha Matsyendrasana and Parivrtta Paschimottanasana.
